In the fall of 2003 Afflick was hired by a Titans Radio Network executive to write and produce a one hour outdoor show for its station in the Nashville Tennessee market. Outdoor Trail Magazine made its radio debut on Nashville’s Most Complete Talk Station 104.5 FM The Zone on November 1st. So far guest have included Johnny Morris (founder of Bass Pro Shops), Brenda Valentine (First Women of Hunting), Rob Keck (Executive Director for the NWTF), Tom Knapp (World Record Holder and Exhibition Shooter) Jim Scoutten (The Voice of the Shooting Industry), Gary Klein (Professional Bass Angler), Jay Barrs (Olympic Archer), Tony Knight (Knight Rifles) and many more. "Better late than never" might be a good way to describe Julie Schuster’s hunting experience. Growing up in rural Minnesota, she spent plenty of time outdoors and in the woods as a youngster, but wasn’t seriously introduced to hunting until years later when her husband invited her along on an elk hunt in Colorado. Just an observer on that first trip, she soon celebrated success of her own by taking elk and antelope, and the rest is a part of her growing history as an avid hunter. She has since expanded her interests to archery and black powder, hunting deer, turkey, dove, and just about anything else when given the opportunity. She will not hesitate to step into a bass boat or heft a fly rod on a mountain stream, further rounding her experience as a consummate outdoorswoman.
Working at the Nashville location of the nation’s largest outdoor supplier, Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, Julie stays up with the latest in the hunting and fishing industries. Not only is she a capable writer, but is also an accomplished photographer. Her articles have appeared in local publications and is regularly featured in West Tennessee Outdoors Magazine. Julie and her husband Darrell live in Pegram, Tennessee.
Julie will be bringing you the latest news and stories about Women in the Outdoors. Not only will you enjoy the informational and educational aspect of Julie’s stories, you’ll embrace her warm and witty personality.
If you have questions or comments for Julie, e-mail them to Julie.Schuster@outdoortrailmagazine.com.
Capturing the Great Outdoors on film can be a real challenge, unless you're Tuffy Abell. Abell's ability to capture the tough shots of nature landed him the Senior Photographer position with Outdoor Trail Magazine.
"We are excited to have a photographer of this caliber on our staff" said Andy Afflick, Pres. of Afflick Outdoor Productions. "His pictures often times tell the whole story, we just add words to enhance the visual".
Tuffy Abell's pictures have appeared in newspapers, magazines as well as outdoor internet web sites. Abell will be in charge of all photography for Afflick Outdoor Productions to include Outdoor Trail Magazine, ParFishing Tournament Trail and OTM Radio.
Garry Mason has been featured in magazines such as In-Fisherman, Field and Stream, Bassmasters, Crappie World, Fishing Facts as well as many local and regional publications.
Garry is the owner of Adventure’s Outdoors guide service based out of Springville Tennessee. Garry knows his way around Kentucky Lake like Tiger Woods knows his way around a golf course. Garry is a trained Sporting Clay Instructor, he trains registered Labrador Retrievers, gives clinics and seminars and gives hunting and fishing guide service throughout Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and South Dakota.
It isn’t just his knowledge about the great outdoors that sets Garry apart from the rest, it’s his professional demeanor, his interest in building a relationship with his piers and clients and his passion for passing along great outdoor memories.
Garry will give you in-depth answers to all of your tough outdoor questions relating to hunting and fishing. Mail any outdoor question you may have for Garry to Prostaff@outdoortrailmagazine.com.
If you would like to go on a guided fishing or hunting trip with Garry call Adventure’s Outdoors at 731-593-5429.
Dan Afflick grew up in St. Charles, Missouri along with Andy Afflick, creator and host of Outdoor Trail Magazine. Yes, there is a connection. They are brothers. While Andy was concentrating on his fishing skills, Dan was rifling in on the shooting and hunting sports. Dan still takes advantage of the best turkey hunting in the world right in his home state. His whitetail persuits are equally challenging and rewarding.
You can count on Dan for expert advice in Archery and the shooting sports. His status as an Eagle Scout was just the springboard Dan needed to launch his career into the Great Outdoors.

Boat Expert joins the OTM Pro Staff
Outdoor Trail Magazine announced the addition of Stuart Fraser to its Pro Staff.
"We were looking for someone that could provide us with in-depth stories and knowledge about the boating industry" said Andy Afflick, executive producer of all OTM media. "We had a huge void when it came to providing our readers and listeners with comprehensive information about boats and motors. Fraser fills that void and fits our format and style perfectly. We are blessed to have a person of his experience and expertise on board."
Fraser began his boating career right out of college in 1987. He has served on served national dealer councils including that of OMC, Stratos and Triton. Bassmaster, Bass and Walleye and Bassin magazine often look toward Fraser for his expert advice, fundamental or technical. Fraser and his wife Melissa own and operate Clark Marine Sales south of Nashville located in Franklin, Tennessee on I-65 at exit 61.
It isn’t just the boating business that gets Fraser excited; he is also one of the states top tournament anglers. In 2001 he was invited to participate in the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame tournament.
"Clark Marine is proud to partner with OTM", Fraser said. "We feel that Andy and his staff are doing a great job bringing their listeners a wide variety of outdoor topics and information. We’ll be bringing OTM the hottest news in the marine industry from boating maintenance to purchasing the right boat for your needs. We are excited about this opportunity".
You’ll hear Fraser on Outdoor Trail Magazine’s radio show that airs on Nashville’s WGFX 104.5 The Zone every Sat. morning beginning at 5 cst. OTM is also simulcast over the internet.
For questions about boating contact Stuart Fraser at Clark Marine Sales at 615-599-8748.
Growing up in Florence, AL, Troy Goldsby spent a lot of time hunting and fishing all over north Alabama. He also spent a lot of time water skiing on Wilson and Guntersville Lakes on the Tennessee River, and hunting in northwest Louisiana where both of his parents were raised. It was only natural for Troy to want to become a biologist, but exactly what he wanted to do in that field was not obvious until 1999.
Troy was living in southern Tennessee with his wife Noelle when the opportunity to work as a biologist for Aquaservices, Inc. arose. Aquaservices was founded in 1982 by his father, and has since become the leading company in lake and pond management in the southeast. His father, Terry Goldsby, received his masters in botany from Northwestern State University of Louisiana, and worked for the state of Florida and TVA before founding Aquaservices. Aquaservices also employs Bryan Goldsby (biologist), Stephen Turner (fisheries biologist), and other professional and field staff. Aquaservices is the inaugural sponsor of Outdoortrail Magazine on the radio on 104.5 the Zone out of Nashville, TN.
Since beginning his career with Aquaservices, Troy has worked all over the southeast for corporations, governmental agencies, and private homeowners, including Bill Dance. He works in each aspect of the business. These aspects include aquatic vegetation control, pond design, fish stocking, liming, fertilizing, electro-fishing surveys, and complete pond and lake management. Troy has written articles for Southern Ponds and Wildlife and Bill Dance Fishing Illustrated Magazine.
Although Aquaservices is based in Guntersville, AL, Troy still resides in southern Tennessee (a.k.a. Hunter’s Paradise) with his wife and daughter Josie who is now 3 years old. He just can’t seem to bring himself to move when he is so deeply rooted in Lawrence and Wayne Counties where he spends as much time as possible in the outdoors. Aquaservices is growing by leaps and bounds so you can look for troy pulling an airboat or electro-fishing rig in a town near you.
Email Troy at troyg@aquaservicesinc.com or check out the Aquaservices web site at www.aquaservicesinc.com.
